I'm using that Radio Shack model to power my InCommand 1200 in my office right now. Had it for several years used to use it with a radio system that we no longer use. Mine puts out 1.2Amps which is plenty for most testing etc. If you are trying to do some testing running DC motors etc. then you should get a 12V battery and a charger.
