E.Central MN | Electric demand has to be huge right now. Electric heaters draw a lot of power when they are running almost constantly and even fossil fuel furnaces with fans are running more often than normal because of the low temps. More people are plugging in the block heaters on their vehicles, the heat tapes on their pipes and the heaters on cattle tanks are drawing more power, etc. Texans should be using less power, no need for air conditioning this week. Ice storms can knock out a lot of power lines in one night. | |
