How long is it supposed to be cold, I’m just questioning if their rumen bugs will be able to actually utilize the corn if they haven’t been on it before, Just because they eat it doesn’t mean it’s doing any good, and may make things worse. I probably wouldn’t go any higher than about 5 or 6 lbs.

The hammered stuff will process better in the rumen but even 5 ro 6# is too much for a start.

In cold weather you can get away with pushing things a bit.
I would start with 2 - 3# the first couple days and then up to 4 - 5# for the duration.

If its possible spread the grain so that the boss cow can't get too much and the back end cows can get most of their share.
You will see if they get too much as their crap will get all runny on you (the piggy cows!).
