Subject: Giving up on Kitchenaid mixer

Repaired it as described in this thread 5 years ago.

Broke again a few days ago.

$50 of parts plus my time and inconvenience is not the end of the world for 5 years more use but it is sold with a dough hook and is marketed as a premium product and the brand used to have a reputation of producing products that would last generations. Just not what we expected when we bought it.

Would like to make bigger batches of dough so we’re switching to an 8 quart Ankarsrum 6230. Hopefully that will treat us better. Maybe should have considered a Bosch, commercial 8 quart Kitchenaid or a Hobart but I remembered the Ankarsrum from looking into it 5 years ago and didn’t want to research a bunch so I just pulled the trigger. Hopefully it will be better.
