Rate only will work, but you won't be able to control individual clutches later if you are planning down the road.

Stopping and starting automatically is a function of being on automatic (or manual if that suits you) and a coverage map the monitor creates.

You will need a lift switch or at least a switch it thinks is there for raising and lowering. Lots of options there. You will need something when calibrating to tell FIQ the planter is up and down. Calibration can't be completed without some sort of switch, even if just connecting and disconnecting wires to fool the monitor.
