It would be a ways for you, but I just bought my second forklift from Unzicker Equipment in Morton. They have quite a few in inventory across a wide price range. Chad will tell you the straight stuff on his machines, and they do a good job of fixing whatever it needs.
I’d bet there is somewhere in Rockford that deals used forklifts. Try Google.
