Tom, we have gotten 58 inches this year, as Ed knows, close to an all time record, real close...somewhere around 38 is average...Hoosier state doesn't have normal weather, just average...we were hot and dry in July then came the rains...Weak stalks trying to install large ears, and they did...I really feel for the farmers that have corn in the field yet cause with the rains eventually come winds like we have been haveing lately, and those weak stalks can't stand up with their heavy ear.

freezing weather here also comes complete with at least some snow, usually 10 inches = no frozen ground...when the ground does freeze here, it doesn't stay long usually/with our wet summer-fall, we could miss a hard freeze altogether.

but it always works out.
