Subject: Re: bin measurements...OK-more on tw

Chebanse, IL.....

Well, yes, I've always thought the higher the tw, the more corn there would be for a given volume (like a field).

I've always thought that if you have 30,000 ears of 60# tw corn per acre, they would OUTYIELD (more bus or lbs...whichever) that same corn if it had 30,000 ears of 56# tw corn per acre. Does anyone disagree w/that?

I believe I heard on radio yesterday that USDA lowered overall USA corn yield over 1 bu/A due to "lower overall tw in corn across the US which LOWERED the yield..."

Am I understanding all this correctly?

It seems to me that it really doesn't matter if we're selling corn by the bu or by the lb, if I have a higher tw corn, I'm going to get more $$ per acre....assuming all else is the same. Would that be correct?

Been here many-many times. Seems 49% of people agree & 49% don't.
