Maryland | I'm going to try to keep this short but will give some background.
My wife is a full-time farmer on my family's farm. I have an excellent job off the farm. We have perfect credit. We are wanting to build an in-law's addition onto the farmhouse for my parents, so that we can take care of them as they age, as both will refuse to go into a nursing or care facility when that time comes.
We are looking for a loan for the home addition as well as remodeling of the current HVAC system, kitchen, etc. Our bank (BB&T) of over 15 years, told us that working farms are not lendable for home additions and that their ag division had no product suited for this.
Anyone have recent experience with this type of loan? I'm reaching out to other banks because I'm certain that this type of loan has been done before.
