Subject: Convincing cows to eat gin trash (cotton burrs)

Texas
Any tricks for convincing cows to eat the burrs without starving them? I’ve been told putting protein tubs beside them helps. I’ve thought about dumping some liquid feed on them.

6 months bred cows and 600# heifers.
I have enough wheat right now they get 1 day on wheat (I’ve been giving them a whole day and the next morning) then they move to dead grass pasture that’s pretty much gone for 3 days. I was feeding hay, but I’m rolling through it too fast so I started getting loads of burrs. I’ve been just dumping cubes on the burrs to get them to eat them.
I have some traps with solid rescue grass and wild oats coming in them, but I’m a month out probably on being able to turn in on it.
