For what it's worth, my jd8870 burnt last year, I replaced it with a cih 9170. The 9170 has 3000 more hours, was half price of the 8870 replacements I was looking at. I am much more satisfied with the cih than I ever was with the Deere. Don't be afraid to leave mother deere's nest.
