Central North Carolina

What about just a cheap annual like crimson. Then when it dies out you can still spray the weeds. I planted dixie years ago and when i scratch in ryegrass in the fall the crimson volunteers well, great for cattle needing high protein and does not need great ph levels. Just have to manage it a little for reseeding. Not a bloat problem ever here.
