The equipment buying/trading business has changed for sure. I've found that many dealers don't respond to blind inquiries made by email. I'm assuming they get way too many tire kickers and crack pots. The best way is to call and talk with them or stop by. As for not taking trade ins I think that has become somewhat of a mixed bag as well. I think most dealers I know of will still take trades but they definitely won't pay much for older and smaller equipment. Like someone else pointed out they probably don't want on old auger cart sitting on the lot for close to a year. Instead of low balling a person they just decline to trade. I don't care for that way of doing business but I suspect it will become more and more common.
