Salina, Kansas | We have both green and black available to us. We have always used black because it is significantly cheaper in our area. The county agent said KState had tried them all and it didn't matter what form you used the result for the same analysis was the same and you should use the cheapest source you could. This spring the green was 75 a ton more than black if I remember right.
That being said, the black is harder to work with because it just can't be strained fine enough to use small orifices at low rates. Have used green drop splitters for years since one nozzle feeds a bunch of drops and can have a big enough hole to not plug. Unfortunately I don't think they are made anymore. Might have to switch to green if we can't find another way to split it if we change something. | |
