Subject: RE: Grain dryer question

Austin MN
We have a 40 yr old top dry with the old vaccu-vent roof. The sloppy bees wings on the roof are going to happen regardless cause no matter what the water is going to condense on the outside of the bin. I'm a little unclear if your wanting to increase the plenum temp from 100-120 to 180-200 or heat the air coming out of the vents. I dont believe your leaving any capacity in the table sucking some of the moist air back in. Think of it this way would you rather dry corn with ambient air at 80 degree with 100% rh or 35% at 30% rh. I know I'd rather have the warmer air even if it is wetter. The idea of having the vents above the burner point straight up could help but it might be alot of messing about for not much gain.

I assume that is a 30 foot or 36 foot dryer?
