| I would look at the alternator first. See if you can find a way to run the machine without the alternator. Drop the belt if possible or if you have to pull the field wire off. Run it for a couple of minutes while watching your S/N number. If you have to pull the field wire, don't run the machine for more than 5 minutes or you could damage the alternator. My guess is since this is a new machine and alternator, the brushes have not seated properly. After a day or two in the field the problem will most likely go away.
