You said it, hail and green snap. I don't care what your adjuster says or how many snapped. The stress on the remaining plants put more back into the stalk to heal than reproduce. Our corn is bad, had all the moisture it needed but had multiple weather problems. We have one field 10 miles away that did not get the weather problems and it was the best that farm produced.
