Thanks for the replies.

The stationary knives haven't been removed on the newest machine because of the external adjuster. Have taken them out on all the older machines. There is a missing knife in first picture and I believe that caused the damage but they were starting to bend before corn harvest and knife was still on. Thinking something could have went through at that time and knife came off later.

We have repaired holes in the chopper pans before that could definitely be contributing to the problem.

I never thought about cobs ricocheting of the back. Chopper is in high gear because belt rubs when put in low I think the idler pully pivot is worn causeing belt to run crooked. Figured we could do 200 acres.

We have had the same damage in other crops. Still using a pickup in dry beans. Sounds like I better spend some time and fix all the things mentioned.
