Texas
redoak,

North Texas never really gets cold. During the winter most of our days will be in the 50F. range. Occasionally, we will get a cold snap and drop below 32F. for a few hours. Sometimes, we get to see a few snowflakes!

The pansies will survive the winter here and can live until the heat gets them in June or July. I try to replace them with spring annuals in March and April, so that those plants have enough time to grow.

The temperature reached 100F. this afternoon, but that is warmer than seasonally expected.
