East of Broken Bow | You'll have to advertise, be insured, and be willing to take on loads no one else wants, if you want good pay, at least until you get established. This might mean going out and loading at 10PM, and being in line at the elevator all night to be there at the open, or hauling loads 3 States away, that sort of thing. I wouldn't want to be a start up owner operator with a young family, at least from what I've seen around here. A reputable freight company can be a good place to work, but they usually have enough experienced drivers applying that its tough for a rookie to get a job there. However, if you can land one, with a good record and a bit of seniority, you can sort of pick your routes. | |
