ECIL | That reminds me once during the '80's dad and I were at another farmstead to bring an auger home. The auger was parked in tall grass and it was mid-August. Dad had driven the truck, parked it a few feet in front of the auger, and got out to lift the auger so I could back the truck up. The truck had an automatic which I had in reverse and manual windows that were fully open. Apparently when he stepped out of the truck he stepped on a bumblebee nest. I looked out the driver side window only to see a swarm of irate bumblebees on a mission. So, I had my foot on the brake to keep from backing up while trying to close both manual windows at the same time while warding off a hoard of bees. I did manage to get the windows up but got stung a few times and did manage to swat some bees with my hands. The bees never went after dad but he was wondering why I flailing around in the truck. Luckily I'm not allergic to bee stings. | |
