I bought this grapple loader and it has a heavy chain hooked up between the two halves of the bypass log grapple.  What is it for?  It doesn't keep it from opening too far, or anything like that.  It just gets in the way when squeezing something.

Does it keep something from getting jammed up in the top of the grapple when you squeeze something like a car body?

The dang thing weighs 66,000 pounds.  First one like it I have ever seen.  My 93 year old Uncle that still logs will think he is heaven.

66,000 pounds, How does that telehandler pick that up ?

Hi Ted,

The machine itself weighs 66,250 pounds.  There is a plate in the cab that reads that it will pick up 25,000 pounds.  I don't know if that includes the weight of the grapple or not.  Its a horse!
