Subject: Lock washers on grain platform flighting

Sanilac Co. Michigan
Clipping dry beans I noticed they weren't feeding real well. Looking closer, it looks like the leading edge of flighting on the conveyor is layed over pretty bad and not grabbing these short beans very well at all. I'm going to try and run an angle grinder over that edge to bring it back somewhat square to see if that helps. I've also heard of driving some lock washers onto the flighting to help improve the aggressiveness .

Guess I'm wondering, from those that have done this, about what size washer, if it matters and about how far apart along the flighting?
