NW IN | The developer of the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test, Dr. Kary Mullis, was interviewed after the test was co-opted in the late eighties for use in the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Surprisingly, I'm unable to find the video on YouTube or I'd post a link. Probably violates some "fact-checker" rule. I did, in fact, watch the entire video a few months back.
He was adamant...and I mean ADAMANT in the interview that the PCR test was NEVER meant to be used as a diagnostic tool due to exactly what we are seeing today with COVID. The way I understood it was that the virus must be purified as the "benchmark" and the number of iterations determined the sensitivity. I may not be using the correct words, here, but in a nut shell he said false positives were why it wasn't a diagnostic tool.
Funny that someone by the name of Dr. Anthony Fauci was involved in pushing for the use of the PCR test in diagnosing HIV, knowing full well the limitations of the test. | |
