Subject: RE: Tillage Question

Continuous corn silage, especially w/ out a cover crop is hard on the soil.  Silage takes a massive amount of nutrients and does not put back much residue, which quickly depletes the soil.  Lots of manure is a good start, but a rotation of alfalfa would definitely help freshen up the soil.
