Around here those are the kinds of fields that people growing crops for the canning company love to put into peas or sweet corn. Peas aren't too big of a deal to work around stuff, sort of like mowing hay. Corn is a different story since you have to follow the rows.

On topic: I won't be surprised if crop yields are quite variable here too, even with a good (bit wet) growing season.
