Our 686 will go through weeds as long as there is corn with it to help it through. If you get to a grass patch and keep the head down, it will plug up and slip a clutch. I have all new knives and cleaners underneath.

You should be able to feed the chopper enough to make it struggle. Watch how it is plugging up. You may need to adjust the corn guides, or whatever the tall things in the middle and the sides are called. This year mine is catching the ears on the middle part. Ears are very high this year. I have the center all the way up. Ears catch on it then cause a backup. Sometimes I will just raise the head a little to help it feed better.
