Central Alberta | I built one years ago and ran it with 1000 pound or 1500 pound winch. I was broke at the time and couldn't afford much and bought the winch on sale for like 20 bucks. I built a bale spike and a reciever end that fit into the bumper hitch so could easily be taken apart and off truck if needed. Had to triple the lines to get it to lift the bale.
It worked, but was slow. Don't have pictures. But feed cattle for a couple of years like that and moved a few bales off the field.
