Sanilac Co. Michigan | Ok, look: just what kind of deed were you given? Was it a warranty deed or a quit claim deed? If quit claim you've basically got nothing unless you know for a fact the property was unencumbered at the time of issue and recording. If a warranty deed, then you should have been issued either a title insurance policy for a given dollar amount "warranting" that the property was free and clear of any encumbrances, except those indicated by the policy, or had an abstract and opinion of title done by an attorney warranting the same thing, though I'm not sure there's any dollar amount specified or what recourse is available should he have screwed up the search.
So tell me: just what do you got that proves you own the property? | |
