I remember back around 15-20 years ago with Canola seed.  It was hard to coat, held its moisture, made things sticky.

It was used back then to late fall seed canola in the northern states.  The idea was to insure coating to prevent fall germination
and let it emerge early in the spring.  

I don't think anyone has made it work for that.
