| Omar and dschill: You're probably correct in your points, the numbers for Ontario likely reflect what you're saying about dairy quotas, land ownership vs. lease, etc. I'd like to see a breakdown by province which would better illustrate what you're saying. One big concern of mine is Farm Credit Corp's lending policies. Some of their schemes that essentially boil down to "pay the interest, don't worry about the principal" look suspiciously like some of the sub-prime mortgages in the States. I think that alone is a house of cards that'll crumble in the face of higher interest rates. Equipment leasing rather than buying could end up like the automotive leasing sector has already. The whole thing boils down to easy credit driving up prices and farmers getting themselves in over their heads.
