Southern MN | Went out to eat last night and took a Drive to the areas in N Iowa that had the corn blown down Sunday morning. No surprise but most of the corn that went flat was the stuff that died early from lack of rain. Walked in one field where even individual stalks that had died early blew over even though all of the green corn around it was standing. Nothing surprising, but it is only the second week in Sept and a lot of this corn will have to stand for 60 days yet. I know get it early but not so easy if 15% died early and rest is green yet. Unfortunately growing season is about over but quite a bit of risk yet. | |
