Subject: RE: Combine field tile?

As a pond owner, I think you would be making a big mistake routing the tile water away from your pond. Almost all of the fertilizer or herbicide runoff you would be dealing with would enter your pond through run-off, any water that makes it to the tile would be filtered by the soil it has to go through, so you shouldn't add any chemicals to your pond through tile. Worse than that, however, is you would be missing out on all that fresh water coming into your pond, and the more fresh water you have coming in, the healthier your pond will be, the better aeration, and the less pond scum you will have growing on it. I think you would be spending money and negatively affecting your pond. Guys around here that own ponds are generally trying to re-route tile water INTO their ponds to make them healthier. I think if you do some more research you will probably change your mind about what you want to do right now.
