mn | This year isn't about genetics or killing the crop. Its about reliable, historical data. Data that says fast finishes and dry Augusts don't equal massive crops. Doesn't mean bad crops, but very likely not record crops. Many seem to forget that there is middle ground between failure and record. Which is where we will be this year. 170-175 is still a good crop and takes plenty of "better than expected" to achieve. Massive/record crops come when guys were expecting good yields and end up better than expected.
If these beans are being harvested at 9% now, they were an early enough variety that they were already beginning to mature when the hot dry spell came through. | |
