NW Ohio | That picture brings back some bad memories of last year. Shortly after noticing the same thing, we noticed ears starting to fall from the weak shank. Decided to go early and take out corn around 31%. I feel we did avoid the ear loss getting worse and the potential for a lot of volunteer corn this year, but the extra drying cost, and lower test weight were just another gut punch to an already disappointing crop that only got 1/3 planted to start with. I'm not sure what the right thing to do is, but keep a close eye on it. Hopefully it's just a small area in your field and not widespread for you. | |
