| Yes, you are able to do multi-year average yield maps in SMS Advanced. The software is also capable of normalizing the yields, to take out climate factors as you mentioned, but also to compare multiple crops
I have just been using the default legend that SMS outputs with the normalized average yield map as my guide. Knowing the production capabilities of the field, I selected a couple pops to plant in the field. I then assigned each level of the avg yield map a pop. I think the default is 6 or 7 different yield levels. If you had the time, you probably could write an equation factoring in soil types, if you wanted to use both layers. Or any other layer for that matter. For this spring, I'm just using the method described above. Probably next year will start doing a little more beyond | |
