Work well against algae, but goldfish won't do anything for the bad acidic water that comes from dropped feed particles. You still need to clean the watertrough out to get rid of soured feed, and now the goldfish make it that much harder.

If the water trough is in the pasture, and quite a ways from any grain or silage feeding areas, it might work well. But in a dairy freestall environment, the water is continuously being contaminated by feed.
