I'm hijacking this thread. We grow seed sorghum and have to destroy two 30" male rows. We currently use a roller and spray some roundup also. I would like to take the male rows as silage or baleage or something so the male seed would be removed from the field. We cut the bar axles off the tractor so it would only be 80" wide and fit between the rows.

Is there a self propelled chopper or one that will mount on the front of a tractor that would narrow enough for what I'm doing? Obviously, I'd need a narrow trailer also. I wouldn't be opposed to chopping 3 rows. I don't want to spend a ton of money. The male rows only add up to about 50 acres per year.

(edited to finish post.)

You will be hard pressed to push anything only covering two rows. But three rows is no problem for most older, smaller self propelled choppers like a field Queen. It should work for what you want to do if cutting three narrow rows.

Good luck!
