Subject: JD 4960 electrical for a GS2

Kippen, Ontario
I have a 2600 display and an ATU 200 that I am going to put in a 4960 for this spring. I am using the universal harness, but im wondering what the simple way is to get it powered up? Do I have to use that whole power adapter harness? There is already an electrical block in the tractor like the one that comes in the kit, can I just use the one pigtail from the kit and put it on that exsisting block. Dealer says I should have that transient voltage protector in the tractor somewhere, is that really necessary? The mobile harness doesnt have one does it? Any simple suggestions out there?
Thanks
