Subject: USB Switching hub (like a KVM switch?)

C IL

I need to run two different windows computers on my desk.  I only need the second one to run a specific software that doesn't run on Windows 10, but when I use it, I use it intensively (an old version of CAD).

I don't really want two keyboards, and two mice.  I am willing to have two external monitors on these laptops, one on each machine.

I have read in the past that a KVM-type switch might work, but they are expensive.  Has anyone used a cheap switchable USB hub to run a USB keyboard and wireless mouse w/ USB dongle and switched between two machines?https://www.amazon.com/Switcher-Computers-Sharing-Keyboard-Selector/dp/B07TR2TVB8
