roaming | you're talking about the update rate, or how many times per second the receiver sends position information to the display/controller/etc.
1hz = 1x/sec
5hz = 5x/sec
50hz = 50x/sec
Why does it matter? Because at 5mph, you can cover a good bit of ground in 1 second. If you're only updating your position 1x/sec, your vehicle position and related guidance is going to suffer because you not only have to get correction, but the controller (or you yourself) have to determine what to do to correct your course, and then you actually have to apply the steering correction. 50hz is much preferable because your position on the ground is being calculated 50x per second rather than 1 or 5, allowing for much "smoother" (i.e. better-performing) guidance, all other things being equal. | |
