Galahad, Alberta | If the dash is like our old CR 1280, you might try to remove the control panel in the center of the dash and look at the little switches that the levers activate. They are very small switch boxes, about the size of a piece of double bubble gum, and they can get corroded and arc out. We had a lot of grief over the years with the climate controls in that Steiger.
