I used red iron as in the iron they use in metal buildings.Local lumber yard can order it without holes bout any length you want. I used the c channel. YOU can get it in 6 8 0r 10 in. Light weight easy to handle. Got a square shoulder you cab drill holes in and bolt right to the top of your cart. Then put angle iron on corners. Structurely strong and looks better than some 2 bys stuck up there
