Subject: winter oats SW ohio

SW Ohio
Looking at the possibility of growing some oats in SW Ohio. Dad did it a long time ago, I was probably 10 years old or so, I don't remember how it all worked out.

No one close by grows oats any more. My wife has horses she wants to feed them to, and we have cattle that would eat them as well. I have a good straw buyer for my current wheat crop. I'm looking at the timeline to get the double crop beans planted, and don't want to wait the extra couple weeks for the oats to be done, if spring seeded. Would winter oats survive in our climate? Do they harvest sooner, like wheat? Where is a market for them if I have an over abundance?
