Subject: RE: question on supplied air system

Michigan
When I first got into painting vehicles using epoxy primers and urethane clears I cobbled together a supplied air system from a oilless compressor, filter, garden hose, and hood. It sort of worked. I was young, had much more time than money, and while I knew you didn't want to be exposed to that stuff I was okay with cutting a few corners.

I now have a Hobbyair system and have had it for the last 15 years or so. Painted many vehicles and farm equipment using it, and even used it for some smaller sandblasting jobs. Hobbyair makes a good system that is proven to work and the cost is reasonable. I'd recommend it over any DIY system. I have the model with the large pump and use the hood, not the half-mask. I had to upgrade the hose as the original got cracks in it over time. It's cool and comfortable and I feel much safer with a "real" system.
