WHy not spend the 2k on cutting the trees down now before they cost you any more time and work. Cedars are a sickly looking tree in the first place. I have been thru the Colorado Blue, Scotch pine, Cedar etc. they all get to looking nice and then they die. There were no trees here in Iowa when the settlers came for a reason.

Cedar trees are native to Iowa, like many other trees. As was stated above, corn is not.
Historically, cedar trees were kept in check through natural occurring fires. Now that we control the land and limit wildfires ,cedar trees completely dominating the landscape in some areas.
