CNY | Thanks for the link, very interesting, I've waded through the Stephenson/ Novakovic paper. This was a good review, somewhat easier to grasp. I was trying to explain some of this to a young guy we have coming on board and not doing a great job, I will print this for him. The chart was most interesting.
FYI in Order 1, DFA with Holstein-Jersey cross breeding our components were lower than those on the chart but not as low as Holstein herds, averaging 87# milk. Our PPD plus location adjustment was -7.02, "market adjustment" which is supposed to represent DFA cost of getting milk balanced was -0.24 and "COVID-19 cost" was -0.11. We also got only $5.47 for overbase milk, base being 85% of March production, the level we still are near, ending up with 17.36 including depooling bonus. | |
