NW IA | I had the same trouble with mine a few years ago. The head would lift slower all the time until it wouldn't at all. It was a problem internally with the hydraulics stack on the left side of the cab. The bottom section of the stack runs the head. I replaced the pump and it made no difference. I ended up buying a complete stack setup from a salvage yard and it solved the problem. Those are electric over hydraulic controls.
You might try hooking the auger hoses to another stack section and see if it works. The fore and aft, auto header control also have their own stack sections. Hook auger to fore and aft stack and see if it works properly by using your fore and aft toggle switch. Make sure you label hoses!
I would also check electral grounds grounds, those have caused me some headaches too.
