| 10 years ago I was very bullish on the long term outlook of the sheep industry. Today I am not and a lot of others I talk to are of the same opinion.
The industry is moving backwards. You can not support the entire industry on ethic lambs.
We have to find a way to consistently move larger (130+ live weight) finished carcass to make the sheep industry viable. Today we don’t have that market for the most part. If McDonalds would add a lamb gyro to their menu for example that could change.
Unfortunately the wool growers that run ASI don’t seem to care about the meat side of the business. I’m not sure if the packers running NCBA or the wool growers running ASI, which is worse....
