Subject: 4WD or MFD for planting and tillage

NNY
My son and I are considering our next tractor and not sure which way to go. Currently we plant with a 1998 JD 8400 quick hitched to a JD1775 NT 16 row planter equipped with 2 x2 fertilizer and hydraulic down force. For tillage we run a chipped JD 9220 pulling a 20 foot Degelman Protill between 9-11 mph. We want a tractor that can handle both jobs and not sure we'd like planting with a 4WD or that the ride pulling the Protill at 11 mph would be acceptable with a MFD. We would keep the 8400 as back up for planting but new tractor would need to do both comfortably. I'll add that most of our fields are flat to rolling and do mostly COC. Any suggestions/opinions/experiences will be appreciated. TIA
